I grew up listening to music daily. My parents played records just about every night. I heard a variety of music styles from hymns to band music. My Dad played the piano often at our house. At my Grandma Barnum's home, during our family gatherings, there was always someone playing the piano, singing, & or playing an instrument. I have always loved music ever since I was a child. My name meant something to me as a child & I wanted to live it out!

I grew up in Glencoe, MN. with a musical family. My Grandfather Barnum played trumpet/cornet with the original John Philip Sousa Band! I began piano lessons at age 5, flute lessons in the 4th grade, followed by piccolo & Alto Flute. I have been singing ever since I can remember. I have been writing music ever since I was a little girl, about age 9. I had a desire to pursue music as a career since my childhood.

I have performed in churches, county fairs, sang with the Bemidji Concert Choir at B.S.U. I have performed with the B.S.U. Wind Ensemble, Flute Choir, Bemidji Symphony Orchestra & with the B.S.U. Symphony Band.

I received a B.A. in music performance from B.S.U. with a major in flute performance & a minor in piano accompaniment. I took voice lessons under 2 different B.S.U. faculty & other teachers as well. I received a Master Of Arts in Religion from Lutheran Brethren Schools, in Fergus Falls, MN. with a Christian Education Emphasis. I did some conducting, composing, traveling & performing while there.

Currently I am a regular on praise & worship teams, perform for weddings & funerals & perform with the B.S.U. Symphony Band, Bemidji Area Community Band & the Park Rapids Area Community Band. I still write music & songs. I have a vocal CD, & a Christmas CD produced by my husband Eric. We perform under the name of Melodie And Harmony Ministries.

I have been married to my husband Eric for 25 years. We have 2 boys who are very musical. Our oldest son is currently serving in the U.S.Army, while our youngest son continues his education & performs on worship teams & in the B.H.S. Orchestra.

I began teaching at Overbeeks in September 2009. Currently, I am a Licensed substitute teacher, PK-12th Grade in the Bemidji School District, since 2005. I previously taught music in 2 private schools. I use to be a youth worker for about 12 years! I love children, teenagers & all ages! I love teaching & look forward to an awesome Year!
